Aged Care Services
Marrangbah Cottage
We would like to welcome you to our Aged and Community Care service. We understand the reluctance of some families, particularly in the Aboriginal community, to have someone else take care of Elders who are the most respected people in the community hierarchy.
Here at Biripi ACMC Aged and Community Care we are committed to providing culturally appropriate, quality and safe care delivery that promotes functional independence. We sincerely hope that we will be able to work in partnership with you to provide you with safe and quality care and services that will enable you to continue to live in your own home and environment within the community.
Our Home Care Packages are delivered within the Consumer Directed Care (CDC) framework. This means that you (and your carer) have more choices and control over what services are delivered, where and when they are delivered. Be rest assured that our staff and carers work hard to ensure each Elder is accorded the respect and dignity they deserve.
OUR SERVICES
Support at Home Program
The Support at Home Program, funded by the Australian Government, is designed to help older Australians stay safe, independent, and well in their own homes or chosen environment for as long as possible. This program supports people who may benefit from some extra help so they can continue living independently at home and stay active within their community.
Who Can Access Support at Home?
You may be eligible for Support at Home if you are:
- 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- 65 years and over for non-Indigenous people
To begin, you will need a referral through My Aged Care (MAC). If you need help with this process, the team at Biripi Aged and Community Care can guide you through it.
Working Together to Identify Your Needs
Once you are approved, our skilled and caring staff will work with you to understand your needs, goals, and what supports will help you remain independent at home. We aim to offer services that are flexible, culturally appropriate, and suited to your lifestyle.
For our Elders, we value supporting independence, wellbeing, and ongoing connection to culture and community. Our services are designed to help Elders stay strong and continue being important leaders and knowledge holders within our Biripi community.
